OMG the pullout bed was designed by Satan the Devil himself, used to torture innocent Christians. I left this bed from hell and crawled into the king with my father.
Someone is about to hear about it.
07:30 I’m up and so is Dad, we shower, shave and head over too McDonalds for breakfast.
08:00 well I had quite the discussion with the Ass. Man. at the front desk, she did not agree with my need for a comfortable bed that was to come with the room. She offers a $20.00 discount and that’s it. Oh well I slept not that bad in the King bed with Dad.
It’s an overcast morning and we prepare for rain with our rain gear on. We have about three hours to our destination of Oshkosh Wittman Field.
We ride through rain for about twenty minutes, just enough to cause my gloves to be soaked.
We arrive at the campers village at 12:30 and when I stop in front of the registration office I almost dump the bike as the side stand folds back up. I yell to dad to lean right and I pull the muscle in my left calf holding all 900 plus pounds.
The checkin was super fast and we talk to a lady cop who rides a bike and is admiring the trailer and a fellow guiding traffic fills us in on where to set up camp. We pick a spot on the end of 8th St.. The spot has a tree and the folks behind have a motor home and they come over to help. We are not sure which way to point the opening of the tent and we have to borrow a hammer to put the pegs in. It’s getting black and rain is coming.
We can’t get the air mattress pump to work so I tell my dad that I’m going to Walmart. I first stopped at Target and they have nothing, I then hit Walmart and a fellow there helps me find a pump I can plug into the bike and an awning and lawn chairs. I throw everything into the trailer and tie down the lid to hold everything down and blast back to camp.
It’s looking like rain so we pump up the mattress and we start to put the awning up and it’s not going right and next thing we know Robin the lady next to us is giving us instruction on how to put it up and then she goes and gets rope and stakes to tie it down. Her husband Dave and I start laughing as she tells Dad how to do it. Well actually she did it and Dad assisted. Thank God we have been adopted by these lovely folks. It blows really hard here and if it’s not tied down it’s gone.

Robin did an awesome job setting up our home away from home.
Dave and Robin have a much more elaborate setup than ours.
We get all setup and it’s starts to pour and our new family invites us into their motor home to wait it out. Dave and Robin are from outside of Brainerd MN. Dave is retired from the railroad and a Robin works for the DOT in Brainard. They have four kids all in their thirty’s and they have sixteen grandkids. Dave has two airplanes and also has Goldwings.
It’s 18:30 and we are going to look for food. I’ll update shortly.
Our new friends invited us to dinner due to the rain and being the first night of Air Venture, here’s a photo of our lovely chef Robin.
Look at this spread we were so privileged to enjoy. Wouldn’t you think it’s an Italian restaurant. Well done Robin!
This is our host Dave getting ready for salad and pasta with mushrooms and fresh grated Wisconsin cheese. Doesn’t he seem happy to be here.
Im not sure if Dave likes his salad. LOL While we were eating Robin thanked us for eating here food cause it made more room in her fridge and I said “you’re welcome and if we can help in the morning just give us a call”.
I knew it! I was saying to the kids, “If anyone could chat their way into that motorhome, it would be you two!” You should have a good week with your new neighbours.

If it makes you feel any better , it’s raining here as well. However, we are not in a tent or riding Black Beauty. You always meet such nice people on your travels it’s a great ministry in itself. We are preparing for the blessing of the bikes this Sunday and next Sunday is the water baptism at the Tobin’s.
Did you ever think about Florida trip in the spring? Just saying. Maurice would love to have you go to the bike rally and your name comes up a lot when he makes plans to go.
He was looking for handle tassels for his bike but I told him they were for sissies and to take the ones off the girls bicycles, LOl.
Keep pressing on and journey mercies as your steps are ordered of The Lord. Xoxo

Yes Barbie if you are going to ride a bike or sleep in a tent you will experience rain. I forgot about the bike blessing and how great of you guys to have everyone over to be dunked in your pool.
Maurice will have to make the plans for Daytona or some rally and I’ll work it out to go. Maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle in the summer. Some day God had a plan for us to do it.
Love hearing from you and say hi to everyone.
