Well dad and I am are painting Earls kitchen cupboards and I’m not very good at it. We sanded, used Spray 9 and TSP and they still are not that good. Too many years of use and not being stripped down to the wood does not lead to a fabulous finish.

It’s so humid here it’s going to take a while before I can put the handles on but Earl will need them to feel his way and get what he needs so I’ll try to put them on early and hopefully not mess everything up.

We try to have a dinner that is somewhat healthy for a change.

Our dear friend Sis has invited us to dinner Wednesday night, it should be a great time. Yep Sis has made stew, dumplings and biscuits. It’s really good covered in Molasses. She has also made a lemon cake dessert which is equally tasty. We spend the night exchanging memories and stories and share a few good laughs.

Sis has asked if we are busy tomorrow and since we are not we are going to help her with some work on her new trailer.

My friend Sis needs a fridge installed in her new to her trailer that she has parked over at Lake Ainslie so we are going over to see if Joe and I can make the opening a little larger and then slide the apartment size fridge in.

We travel over the two mountains near Pleasant Bay and Cheticamp and then endure a very beauty road into Lake Ainslie. The weather is lousy so no good photos were taken.

Joe brought a jigsaw but we really could have used something bigger.

It works but the cut looks like a blind beaver made the opening. We tried the fit and recut three times but we finally got it in.

Sis is so happy she takes us to lunch at Charlene’s near Whycocomagh, NS. They stop her quite a bit and are sure we will enjoy the food.

I ordered the fish and dad had the seafood chowder both were really good and I topped it off with coconut cream pie. Yummy. What a good day driving around the Cabot Trail with friends enjoying every bit of it.IMG_0202IMG_0201IMG_0205IMG_0206We stop in at Baddeck and visit with the Bells.

On the way back to Cape North we stop at the main Street Bakery at dad’s request and he picks up a pie and squares to go.NS travel 30 2011 056IMG_0207

We need to attach the power line going to the barn as it has pulled away from the strapping at the top and busted off at the bottom. We make our way down the local hardware store and buy some of the metal strapping with the holes in it to tie the pole on. Six dollars later we have it all fixed.

I’ve been itching for a ride but it just keeps on raining enough to keep the bike in the garage. I haven’t tried the new tire yet and would prefer dry pavement to do so.

I see a break in the rain and cloud and try a ride out to Neil’s Harbour via the old road which has been recently paved. The road is great but It starts to rain as I get close to Neil’s Harbour. I turned around and went down into White Point which is a small fishing Village with a harbour just off the old road. It’s a pretty spot with lots of lobster  & crab traps and nets stacked all about.

Along the way is another little community of Smelt Brook and then South Harbour. Both are along the coast and very scenic. Plenty of dips and turns for a fun short motorcycle ride.

Bike Tour 2009 264 White PointWell the rain is gone for now, but we have fog in the area around Earl’s house towards the ocean. We decide to go over to the southwest around Margaree to get some photos. It’s a beautiful day and the temperatures are around 27C/80F and no wind.

Here’s a of Pleasant Bay Harbourpls bayWe drove almost every road in Margaree looking for a Stawberry social at the seniors home in East Margaree and still never found it.

The Cabot trail is busy being a holiday weekend and they are all driving slow. We pass as many as we can and make our way back to Cape North and Bay St Lawrence.

We went over to the Bay to visit a takeout called The Hut which makes good hamburgers and Hotdogs. After a quick conversation with the owner who knows everyone my father does we arrive back at Earl’s to find out my sister wants to take us out for fine dining at the Markland in Dingwall.IMGP9228Wow what a dinner Seafood Chowder to start and then pan seared Halibut finishing off with Creme Brule. What a fun time we had laughing about our summers in Cape Breton and elsewhere. IMGP9229IMGP9225

Sunday 05:30 I’m ready to worship God. We will get cleaned up and head out to Sydney. One should never trim his own hair. I have managed to take a chunk out of one side. Yikes I’ll do the right to balance it, nope that didn’t work. Oh well it will grow back.

We have a great bunch of friends in Sydney and we will worship Him in church and then with them in the afternoon and evening.

07:00 I should have fueled the bike last night. We make it to Ingonish but on Sunday the gas stations don’t open till 08:00.

We stop at the Bean Barn for breakfast and coffee and I upload photos till 08:00.

We arrive at Bob & Lin’s at 09:30 and church doesn’t start till 10:15 so we chat with them until it’s time to go. We ride along with our friends and get a refresher on how to get there for next week.

This morning the church is having a breakfast before the service, good thing we ate. Duh.

13:30 and it’s pool & BBQ time.Bike Tour 2009 190Maurice has the pool warmed up and once he cleans up a second BBQ we grill some steaks. Oh my the ladies have all kinds of salads and desserts. Dad is fast asleep and I’m fading fast.
