Sunday and Monday
302 miles
about 6 hours 44 minutes of driving
We prepare to go to Sydney for church and to visit some dear friends there. While hooking up the trailer I notice a bare spot on the rear tire and when I go to look closer the bike and trailer tip over onto the grass.

Yikes the ground is wet and sloped causing the tip over. Now with a closer view of the rear tire I see it’s worn out in more than one spot. Oh No not good. We will have to find another way to Sydney and get a new tire. I just hate asking anyone to borrow a vehicle but my Dad is not shy to ask my older sister to use her’s. He did pay for her university tuition so I guess that gives him the right.
She takes her to her new house and gives us a tour and then the keys to her new car. After a quick two-hour drive around the Cabot Trail and the Trans Canada we arrive in Bras d’Or near Sydney and stop at the Bras d’Or view restaurant for a feed of Pan fried haddock and Dad had Coconut Cream Pie and I had Butterscotch pie.

When we arrive in Sydney we find out evening church is not on but we are able to visit with our dear friends Bob and Lin. They have been battling the enemy of cancer and as I expected they are full of faith and praising God for their victory over the enemy. They are an amazing couple who are living testimonies of how believers should conduct themselves in a time of serious battle and everyday life.
We spend the whole day and evening with them and also get to see Maurice and Barb for a little bit in between.
We will catch up with them next Sunday when we return for church and possibly have a BBQ around their pool.
After spending the evening with Bob & Lin we leave around 22:00 and check into the hotel for a good nights sleep. The bed at my uncle’s house is about 60 years old so I’ve slept about six hours since getting there.
06:30 What a great bed and lousy internet. It is taking about four minutes per picture to upload so I thought I would have the blog up in a month.
08:00 We start calling around for a tire and after about an hour and ten places we have no success until we get a number for a shop in Middle River and after a call they tell us they have one.
Middle River is on the west part of the Cabot Trail a shop I went to 40 years ago with my brother in law when he started selling bikes called Gasit Enterprises Ltd.
After a few hours of shopping in Sydney for tools and groceries we are off to Middle River which is an hour away.
When we arrive the boys at the shop start working on the tire and within a half hour it’s on and balanced all I had to do is pay them.
What a great bunch of fellows at Gasit.
15:30 We depart for Cape North with a quick dinner stop in Cheticamp at the All Aboard restaurant. Well it was a mistake, slow service and average food. We stopped at a bakery in Bras d’Or lake and picked up two pies and plenty of goodies so we decide to wait till we get to Earl’s for pie.

We stop at the carwash and clean up my sisters car and fill it with gas in Cheticamp and we soon depart and arrive in Cape North.
18:30 We are in Earl’s kitchen sampling the pies. Yummy!
19:30 We go down to visit Allister and Ann Morrison who own the motel in Cape North where we chat will I use their internet to do the blog. They are real great folks who work really hard at the motel business to make a living in a very short June to October.
Some of my photos are coming out sideways and after hours I’ll fix them later.
