Day 5
522 mi — about 8 hours, 53 mins
06:15 We are up and ready to eat. LOL
I get up first and get the bike ready will Dad gets cleaned up.
I met a fellow from Lindsey Ontario riding a Yamaha FJR in the parking lot and had quite a chat about travelling on bikes while he stood there eating his bowl of raisin bran.
I carefully arrange the trunk to ensure the special cargo does not get damaged.
07:20 and Dad and I need to get two bowls from the breakfast area to make a crate for our fresh berries. The jam jars squished the one they came in.
07:55 We arrive at the Water Wheel and there is only one car in the lot. Good to come real early as there is often a line up.
Just east of Jefferson NH on Hwy 2
Pancakes Big Big Pancakes 9-10 inch $2.25 each
I love these pancakes so big such good syrup. $12.35 pancakes and coffee.

I made a huge mistake and trashed a large number of our photos.
We have been having the greatest weather but today we noticed black clouds ahead.
We did notice something quite cool while riding through these small towns. Most had streets lined with the American Flag and some even had Flags with the picture and names of fallen Soldiers, when did you ever see that in Canada.
GOD BLESS AMERICA (They desperately need Your Help)
12:30 We had a little sprinkle before crossing the border in Calais Maine heading towards Nova Scotia and then it staring looking worse so we pulled into a rest area and put on the rain gear.
There were four Harley’s in there that had arrived from the east and they were soaked. The woman had full rain gear on and were dry but the men only had jackets on and their jeans were soaked. Tough Harley men. Within minutes there was a whole bunch drying off and putting on gear.
Well sure enough the rain quit just after putting our gear on so we stopped for gas before crossing the border we stripped off the gear and put them away.
18:10 Well now we are at an underpass on the Highway heading towards Moncton because it’s starting to rain again. We should have just stripped the jackets off and wore the rain jackets in the first place.
I covered the GPS with a zip bag that blew away once the speed got through 50. We stop again and put the GPS and the passports in My map pouch.
We arrive in St John NB and when I tell Dad I’m hungry he says he is just going to eat his pie. (yah sure)
I check the GPS and it says the closet place is Carmen’s Dinner so I wheeled in there and before I sit down I ask a local lady what she likes and she said “I always get the fish and chips. Ok we try the fish (ah the fish pan fried would have been better and real fries not frozen) $28.00 with a tip, ouch!
18:45 OK GOD That’s enough rain my dad says, it’s raining so hard I can’t see very well and the road has holes that are filling with water. traffic is all slowed down with four-way flashers going and we have 5kms to the off ramp for Sackville. OMG it’s raining.
We were stopping in Sackville for fuel so we don’t run out like I did with TJ on the PC800 years ago.
I noticed while on the off ramp a Coastal Inn Motel next to the gas station so I said to dad “it’s seven already and there’s a motel next store do you want to stop for the night. “yep good idea”

After filling up we go to check in and there was a couple from Quebec that were riding a Harley Sportster checking with complete rain gear on. The girl at the desk laughed and said some more wet riders looking for a room?
Yep ” room please” She also suggested a place to eat just down the road called Pattersons which was pretty good. We both ordered Turkey.

When we came out to get our gear there was another group of French people with Harleys and Goldwings looking for rooms. ALL WET.
21:00 back in the room and Dad’s in bed ( yah I’m up around 5, I wonder why)
Tomorrow the blog may be delayed getting up as my uncle Earl doesn’t have the internet, but I’ll get it up asap.
22:30 I’m going to bed earl, yeah
Have a great day!
