Sorry I had no in-house internet at Bob & Sharon’s or Fay’s.
Saturday morning and we are off to Tim’s for some breakfast. We walk as it’s only a few blocks. Bob has never had a breakfast sandwich from Tim’s and keeps saying “this is really good’ and that he’s going to do this more often.
I wanted to wash the bike and needed directions on how to get there and I joked with Bob that he could just ride with me and give directions over the intercom. He said “ I’ve never been on one and I’m not sure about it”
Well Bob drove his car to the car wash and I followed and when I was drying the bike off Bob said “well I think maybe a little ride to the beach wouldn’t be to bad” I said ok Bob we can start out around the neighbourhood and see how you feel.

Sure enough as we started out Bob Said “this is great where has this been all my life” shortly there after I hear “look no hands”. Well Bob and I went around his neighbourhood to my cousin Laura’s house and then down to the beach and I’m sure I could have taken him for an hour ride. At the end Bob said “I can cross this off my bucket list”.
Here’s the Cobourg city hall:

Here is a few shots of the beach area;

We spent the rest of the afternoon sitting in their back yard sharing and laughing until we decided we should go for a Chinese food Buffet in Port Hope and then a tour of the city.

I have to say it was really good and I ate more than my share. I really enjoyed watching Bob eat. He’s just like my dad he’s tall, thin and he can eat. I don’t know how many plates he and Dad had, their plates were piled up sky-high and Bob still was able to eat dessert. He says that food is one of the very few things in life he has to enjoy and he’s going to. I love it!
Today we say goodbye to my uncle Bob and aunt Sharon but first we went down to Tim’s for another round of breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Bob said he was getting used to this and wished we could stay longer. They are such nice people and have always been good to me as long as I can remember. I just love them and really enjoyed visiting and wish we were closer so we can do it more often.
Last night dad got hold of our life long friend Fay up in Trout Creek just south of North Bay so we will ride up and spend the night with her. Her husband Roy (Sonny) has gone to be with the Lord and we try to see her whenever we can. She’s so funny, when Dad called she asked when are you going to be here because I’m not sitting around all day waiting for you. She keeps active and hates to sit around.
It’s a ride that takes us up through Ontario cottage country were we once spent our summers as kids. We will go by Peterborough, Lindsey, Gravenhurst, Muskoka, Bracebridge and Huntsville. It will take us about four and a half hours.
I decided that I should stop for gas in Huntsville and maybe get a picture or two. I never got a decent picture all day and from the highway there wasn’t much to see.
Dad told Fay that we should be there at 15:00 and we arrived at 14:58 so Fay says “well that’s a pretty good eta.

I have to tell you that there is only a few women in my life that call me Evy and Fay is one of them and every time she does it she reminds me of my grandmother. She has known me since I was born and as a matter of fact Fay has called me Evy my whole life. She is one of the sweetest woman I know and who is always a joy to visit and spend any amount of time with. Her husband Roy was a real character, he used to drink and did some of the funnest things with my father when they were young and first married.
I’m pretty sure Fay and my mom consoled each other on a regular basis in the early years of marriage when they wanted to murder these two fools.
Today Dad and Fay are sharing stories of all the stupid things they did and how God takes care of fools and drunks.
The last time we stayed with Sonny and Fay I forgot my pillow and it seems I’m not getting it back. Fay found a cover at a local craft fair and it fit it perfect so she told me that I can’t have it back and that she keeps it on the bed I slept in.
We spend the a short while talking and then go down to the only restaurant in town for Supper. Fay and I had a burger and dad had chicken. It wasn’t bad. Check out the name.

We spend the rest of the night talking about family and the past and mainly laughing but before long we are all ready for bed. You should have seen my little girl bed. I forgot to take a photo. It was short and the air was sticky. Not much sleep again.
After breakfast and a chat we load up and say goodbye to our dear friend.
We start off towards North Bay and it starts to rain very lightly and before too long it quits. We went through the town my mom was born in Thessalon and took a couple of photos.

I was getting hungry so while driving through Massey Ont I noticed a Bistro that looked new. It had only opened in May and it was really nice inside and the food was great.

Dad had the hot beef and I had a western with fresh-cut fries. For dessert the man who wasn’t hungry had a fruit crepe and I had a date square. The girls serving were so friendly and when we were paying the asked if we would sign the guest book which I did leaving positive remarks.

Well good thing I did because about 10 minutes after leaving my phone starts ringing and its my mom telling me the restaurant called to say I left my camera. The sweet girl 411 Dad’s name and got mom on the first try. Great service.
We cross back into USA at Sault St Marie and take a quick ride around the locks and fuel up before we drive Hwy 28 to Munising Mi before finding a room and Supper.

The Soo Locks (sometimes spelled Sault Locks, but pronounced “soo”) are a set of parallel locks which enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. They are located on the St. Marys River between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, between the Upper Peninsula of the US state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario. They bypass the rapids of the river, where the water falls 21 feet (7 m).
We get a room in town at the Pictured Rocks Inn

When TJ and I were Munising we ate at the Dog Patch so we went there and had soup and salad bar which was great.
I stayed up till 1:30 trying to upload photos but ended up having to do it this morning. USA hotel internet speeds are not awesome.
